I stopped into the local Home Depot to price out 3/8" OD copper to put together a wort chiller. They had 2 60 FOOT coils of 3/8" ID copper (approx 1/2" OD) marked down from $118 and change to $8.80! I literally did a double-take as I walked by. I stopped, scratched my head, hmmed/hawed, picked up a roll and walked up to an employee to ask if that was right. He confirmed it. I still couldn't believe it. In the end I bought both coils and confirmed the price with another employee and the register. 120 feet of 3/8" ID copper for less than $20. I'll make it work - make my own chiller and prechiller. Probably make another pair and sell them for more than I paid for the whole kit and kaboddle. I doubt all Home Depot's have this but would be worth a check.

Oh yeah, I returned two coils after peeing in them. Those are probably why they were marked down so low.

Of course, j/k. Good find for you!

WOW, I just looked today at my local HD, Lowes and the lowest I found 3/8 was $46.98 @ HD.
I just bought some from buy.com for $39.69 with free shipping. So Im happy. Im going to make a counterflow chiller.

I got a roll of 1/2"od copper at HD, I got the roll to the checkout and the bar code didn't work so they called up the guy from plumbing . He said it wasn't a full roll and only charged me $22 :D

I am not sure if it was a full roll but I wrapped it around a Corney 15 times to make my chiller :D:D:D

yesterday I made 2 batches and it cooled them down in 8 minutes each! :D

I wonder if the tards realized that they probably sold you the new tubing for less than scrap value. Good for you though.

The first guy I asked said the same thing - LOL. Only thing I can figure is they either had a decimal in the wrong spot when they generated the tag or something similar. Can't believe they'd want it off the shelf that bad. I openned the box and its in perfect shape.

I paid $17. cdn for the rest of the roll that Rona used when they sold it by the foot. Turns out they had only sold 2 feet. I ended up with 48 feet of 3/8 copper tubing..
