Will be kegging my first batch in week here. Have a question about beer storage in kegs. Never used one before so its all new experience to me. Ok, so I prime my beer and keg it for conditioning, is it safe to just leave it outside in frigid canuck winters? I'm not talking about -20 F (just not there yet) I mean 15-30 F with high degree of flactuation during day/night. Is it bad for kegs or my beer? Can lines freez up or something? I dont have a room for spare fridge so its either room temperature or out she goes for now. Will be investing in chest freezer dedicated for beers but its just down the road, darn, already $300ish invested in this addicted hobby and I havn't even cracked my first one.

hmmm, just realized that conditioning will not work in cold since the yeast likes to stay warm, but how about storage itself

Have you ever frozen a beer can by accident? now imagine its a 5 gallon can.

Could you rig up a box with a light bulb on a thermostat to keep the beer from freezing?

Otherwise I wouldn't do it, ask you would risk freezing the beer.

ferment it in the house, then move it outside to chill. bring inside every 30 minutes for 30 minutes to not freeze. way too much hassle
