I found an old vintage copper 10 gallon milk can. It looks amazing and I have a cool idea to turn it into a mash tun. Anyone have any opinions on heat retention?

Same as a keg, insulate it. I used a water heater blanket to insulate mine. If your going to direct fire it though, you'll need to get something fire-rated.

Just my opinion but I would not put anything on the outside of it. I really like the look of copper and would not want to cover it up. I would use it for a boil kettle or HLT.

I thought about that. I love the look of it. But I need a bigger mash tun. Hmmm.
