I'm planning on making a recipe that calls for 2 cans (850g each) of Mr beer. But was thinking about trying it with 1 coopers(1.7kg). Was just wondering if anyone has tried something like this?

seems like the numbers work...but yea more details about your recipe.
 
The recipe calls for 2 cans of stout to produce a 8.0% abv. Was hoping that the coopers stout would do about the same. It also has some hops and a pack of lme robust which I was going to replace with some dark extract.
 
One thing to watch is that the coopers kits contain the buttering hops. When you double up on the coopers tons you get double the hops and in my experience that extra bitterness detracts from the end result. IMO you are better off with one tin of coopers and the rest unhopped LME or DME. A bit of dextrose or table sugar is OK in small amounts too.

Numbers dude.

Fermentables and volume of water. In lbs or kilos and gallons or liters.
 
I'm basically taking a coopers stout that make 5 gallons and making a 2 gallon recipe with it. And adding about 250 grams of liquid dark malt extract
 
I done similar things. I would probably read up on the yeast your using.

Just put the extract weight in and batch size. You don't have to fill everything out. It will give you a really good idea of the density you will get in your wort.

Hey All, I have tried using a full sized Cooper's/Munton's 5/6 gallon brew cans in Mr. Beer LBK on several occasions.What I found out was that the lighter styles,ie. Draught,Cerveza,and Munton's Lite Lager work pretty well as a 2.5 gallon batch.Not too hoppy or sweet.But the Coopers Dark Ale,Stout,and the Muntons Best Bitters are WAYYY to hoppy without adding some x-tra malt,and maybe even some extra dextrose. I like Malt-up-front brews,and the later ones I mentioned, I drank,but they were not really enjoyable. I'm going to experiment with adding some extra DME and dextrose in different amounts to find the sweet spot while using these big cans.Last year,Brew Demon had some past fresh dated 6 gallon brew cans that I purchased for 9 bucks each.They were alittle darker,but I got a case each of Pilsner,IPA,and Witbier,and they were all three brewed as 2.5 gallon batches,with good sucess.
