installed cooling element off a soft side electric cooler in cool brewing bag, working good so far still used ice bottle for faster temp drops.

I'm curious how this set up is working for you.
I received the Cool-Brew bag for Christmas and have one of those electric coolers I could disassemble.
Are you able to cold crash or lager with that configuration?

Me too. Anybody thought about hooking up a dorm fridge and controller to the bag? The bag seems like a nice alternative to building some big foam chamber because it is collapsible when not in use, etc.

havent tried cold crashing or lagering with it yet, as said still used ice to drop temp and cooler element to control where temp stays.
my next batch with bag will be in a different room cause that closet was a little warm. i'm sure with anough ice should be able to get lager temp and or cold crash.

i baught a soft side cooler for this, had a normal electric cooler that would have taken alot of work to install, went with soft side cause only had cut a whole same size as on soft cooler and screw on same way it was on soft cooler

considered a dorm fridge but figured would be a big whole in bag and no longer colapsable. if doing a dorm fridge get some insulation board make a box same size as box beer equipment kit comes in and conect fridge to side.

bag now has internal thermostat, allows basic temp control, when need more persice say lagering can set fan to always on and still use external thermostat with thermal well

What temperature can you achieve inside the bag with the fan always on?
Sorry for all of the questions I just want to make sure it would be worth it to make these modifications to the bag. Once you cut the hole there is no turning back.

with bag empty have got it to 35f with no ice, with a full 5 gallon of beer been able maintain 65f no problem using one 1.5l ice bottle. haven't tried see how low can get with bucket of liquid cause always been beer in bucket.
also i use plastic pail should be easier to maintain temps with glass carboy.
new thermostat giving slight probs with turning on and off, need to trouble shoot, may be mounting location might need some kind of thermal barrier between thermostat and lid of bag. but have a LBK in there right now and will be adding a 1gallon carboy all grain later today.
