So I got a really good deal today, proving that piecing my kegging setup together slowly over time really pays off. I got a 20# CO2 tank, dual product regulator, a pop dispensing gun, a whole bunch of coke disconnects (used for the syrup for the gun), a chiller plate, as well as a 2 tap 'Labatt Blue' glycol cooled tower. This is all from a restaurant that went out of business. I'm not going to say what I paid, but it was a good deal :mug:. Now, the fridge I plan on using is just a little Danby mini fridge, which may choose too wimpy to hold up this beer tower, so it may just sit in a corner until I build something more substantial. But what is my best bet for cooling this? If I put it right on top, and leave the little tail of insulated pipe running down into my fridge, could I put a gallon of glycol and an aquarium pump on the hump in the back of my fridge? Or should I just not worry since its only a couple feet of hose, and wont cool that much? Or should I take the thing apart and try to just blow some cool air up into it?

Edit-figured out the soda gun is a premix one, so unless I want to fill a keezer with homemade soda, or keep an ice bin full, it's useless. The taps look promising though!

Thanks

Hmm, started taking the tower apart, the taps are really gungy, I think its been sitting awhile. Seems to be aluminum pieces and some copper as well, so I would assume oxyclean is out? My LHBS only sells diversol (the pink stuff) and no PBW or anything, thats why I use oxyclean... would a 15-20 minute soak in oxy hurt anything? I guess the diversol would work otherwise. I want to get this thing up and running maybe this weekend.

STOP! Oxyclean will ruin aluminum! Use some undilluted Starsan to clean it, rup it on let it sit for 10 minutes to eat the crap, rinse it clean. That is how I clean my aluminum kettles when they get gross.

Ya the tap lines are in the garbage already. The thing is filthy but should clean up pretty nice. I removed the insulated trunk part, and the whole tower is nicely insulated so I will probably just blow kegerator air up to the top. I will get it all scrubbed up. Any idea who made this? The rubber bits inside the tap could be cleaned, but I would feel better replacing them.

I would assume not, the thing is branded labatt blue (yuck) which is most definitely not a stout, but this is my first set of taps. Do you think I can clean this up to useable state?

I had picked up an old stout faucet off flea bay and it was pretty nasty. Got some good tap cleaning brushes and some PBW. Made up a solution and soaked it at 140 degrees. Cleaned up great. Currently have a peanut butter stout running through the stout tap and a black prinze stout in a regular tap. Using 60/40 beer gas. WOrks well

Hello, I live in Ontario Canada. I have 2 of these tap left at my house by my ex boyfriend. They came from an abandoned Labatt Blue storage unit. They are both in excellent condition but I have no use for them and want to get rid of them as they are taking up space. Does anyone know the best way to sell them? Any help would be appreciated.

So you're using a glycol tower in a non-glycol setup? I have the opportunity to purchase a glycol tower but was wondering if it there were any issues using it in the non-glycol setup...
