I picked up the stuff to make a Duvel cone then this morning i realized that the corn sugar for the boil is in lb's and i have no way to weigh it. Does anyone have a fairly reliable way of converting corn sugar from lb's to cups.

recipe calls for:
1 lb 11oz (kettle)
11oz dosage

thanks i used a density between powdered and granule got 4,25 cups total sounds about right.

i really should get a scale in fact i might go get one while i'm mashing.

ps i know how much to use for bottling this is for the beer boil/secondary

It has quite a few selections under the sugar section. A density value somewhere between that of granulated and powdered sugar should give decent results.

EDIT: You beat me to it.

I bought some bulk dextrose and wasn't sure how much I needed to prime a 5 gallon batch. I did, however, have a 5 oz package from a pre-assembled kit lying around, so I measured that out and it was almost exactly one cup.

Your mileage may vary.

alright guys going to the store. i'm sure my calcs are close, but i would feel better with a scale. thanks for your help.

I have a 24 hour supermarket about 50 yards from my house. I use the electronic scale in the deli from time to time :)

If you plan to brew long, you're gonna need a good scale anyways. You can't use 'cups' of specialty malts for mashing.
