I have a conundrum / dilemma.
I bought a coopers homebrew kit. Watched the video, read the instructions and followed it down to a t. Instead of using the concentrate that came with it i used coopers canadian blonde instead.
I brewed the beer and waited for a week. The airlock stopped bubbling took the SG with the hydrometer (cant remeber reading) and bottled it putting two priming sugar drops in each pre sanitized bottle.

Now heres the conumdrum. The video said wait 2 weeks until drinking. so its been two weeks. I put a bottle in the fridge then tasted it.
I tasted like past-it's used by date apple juice.
It had hardly any gas, no head and tastes foul.

Is there any hope it gets better?
Has something gone wrong?

Help Me
Cheers
Ryan

Ok..... help me out here.... what is a conumdrum? Canadian blone doesn't mean water right :D

R u serious?
A conundrum is a paradoxical, difficult problem or a dilemma.
Anyway canandian blonde is the coopers wort concentrate u buy at the shops.

Sounds like you have some sorta contamination.Give it a week and try another see if its better.

Three weeks and you're drinking green beer. Wait another three weeks. Very few ales are ready in less than four weeks, and Blondes aren't one of them. Absolutely nothing you do will speed things up.

I think someone was taking a playful jab at you and that is allowed, as long as it's playful!;)

Here's a jab back for you:

Some say if your using LME, you will notice a difference by changing to DME (can't commend on this one). Others say using whole hops will improve things.

So... it's rather a long winded answer of maybe, but there could be other things that would improve your beer that could be a bit more easier for you to do then full boils.

On the commend on the use of your kitchen, don't let that stop you if you want to do full boils in your kitchen.

I won't comment any further on this...:p

Yes, something went very wrong. You believed the video. The good news is that you can record over top of it with something really accurate and truthful. Is Jerry Springer still on TV? :drunk:

Don't worry about your beer, it'll get better with time.

I was one of those kids that went up to the teacher and said, "Well how am I supposed to find it in the dictionary. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO SPELL IT!" Always seemed to get these annoyed looks.

I also started my first batch with a Cooper's kit. I read the booklet, but skipped the video. I don't even know where to find a working VCR. I used the malt extract that came with the kit, though. I brewed for about 5 days, and my beer was bottled for a week before the urge to taste overcame me. After a week, the beer tasted a bit "hollow" but it was potable. Two days later and it was fizzier and tasted a bit sweeter. 4 days later and it was half-gone. :) I don't have super-high standards, but I reckon it's turned out pretty good.

It's a shame we can't do some sort of bottle exchange program just to compare and contrast. Maybe mine tastes like crap, too, and I'm just too dumb to notice. :) Keep us posted on how the Canadian Blond ages, because I was thinking about trying it next after the batch I've got going (Cooper's Mexican Cerveza) but I won't bother if it tastes like rancid apple juice.

thought it was too good to be true at 2 weeks. ive spoken to a few people and said it is way to early to drink the beer. And yes it was.
I actually had to borrow a video player to watch the video.
The brew became rather clear after the first few days so i thought that the 2 weeks might be alright.
