I've got my small freezer, will hold 2 buckets, and goes down to 0F. It will be used for lagers in the summer. In the winter, basement temps are probably in the 50s, so I will need heat to brew ales. What controller do I need? Make and model number. Thanks.

If you are handy and can wait a few weeks, do a search for "Ebay aquarium temp controller" in the DIY section. It is about $30.00 controls both hot and cold, has a built in delay setting so you are not "short cycling" the compressor and has a probe. However it only displays in Celsius not Fahrenheit.

Mine should be here any day now...

I love my single stage Love controller. I got mine from Cole-Parmer. It works great! You can make a thermowell for it too out of a spare dip tube or order one of these pretty little things. Love controls come in all sorts of varieties, and there are good threads here on them.

OK, I've narrowed it down to the prewired Ranco 111000 or the Johnson A419. Too many damn DIY projects at the moment to pursue the other options. Is either one of these made in the usa?
