Let me be among the first to congratulate the Sox and their fans for a truly dominating 4-0 series win.:mug:

We still love our rockies here in Colorado but to say they were out classed in the series would be an understatement.

Shouldn't have mattered after game 1. Sox were the best team from the moment Beckett stuck out the side and Pedroia hit the HR leading off the bottom of the 1st.

The Rockies are a helluva team, I thought they were coming all the way back tonight.

Pisses me off that A-Rod had to announce that he was walking away from his contract TONIGHT (it just needed to be done within ten days), and that I had to hear Buck and McCarver talking about the Sox potentially making a play for him... UGH!

You'll have to pardon me if I don't feel too bad for you right now...:drunk:

Well, I'm pretty disappointed in this year's series. I knew that the Red Sox would be unstoppable if they won the ALCS, so I didn't even bother watching the series. If the Indians didn't blow their 3-1 lead in the championship series, we could have had a nice evenly matched world series this year.

It's hard to put a team like the Rockies up against the 2nd highest paid team in baseball. Congrats to Red Sox fans, and all the bandwagonners that jumped aboard after the ridiculous 13-1 game one victory.

I have to say that after 2004, this year was kinda anti-climactic... But I guess that will happen when the other team basically forgets to show up for the series... Either way, WOO-HOO!!! Red Sox are World Champs again!!!

Congrats to the 2007 NL Champion Colorado Rockies, who gave it everything they had and didn't quit until the last batter was put out.

Congrats to Boston, they played a great series. I'm not a bandwagon fan, I rooted for the Red Sox because they have Lowell and Beckett. IMO, Lowell deserved the MVP award. I've been saying it for years, but he's a great player with a lot of heart and a ton of talent and I'm glad he is doing so well in Boston, as is Beckett. I was sad to see them both leave the Marlins, but I'm glad they are having such great careers. Lowell is the man!

I was browsing through the channels last night and saw some commentary real quick on ESPN, something about Boston potentially not signing Lowell back next year? What's up with that?

Theo's gotten a lot of little decisions right, but tended to blow chunks when it comes to major decisions/commitments. IMHO, it would be a HUGE mistake to persue A-Rod (which would likely mean, even if they didn't end up signing 'Rod, Lowell ending up elsewhere). Lowell was the heart and soul of this team all year, he's a gamer and a tough SOB. If he goes elsewhere, I'm going to be pissed.

As a Yankees fan I agree. A-rod is very talented obviously, but I never could stand him. He was never a Yankee IMO. Anyway, congrats to the Sox for that impressive performance. They pretty much put on a clinic!

My dislike for A-Rod's got nothing to do with him being a Yankee. There's a core group of you guys (sorry... "yous guys") that I have a lot of respect for; Jeter and Rivera are the two most obvious ones, and Torre's been a helluva manager, and was completely disrespected by Steinbrenner.

I was talking to one of my co-workers this morning... bringing in A-Rod would be ushering back in the "25 Cabs for 25 Players" mentality of old. The Sox never would have been able to come back in '04 or '07 without the loosey-goosey (but still professional, moreso in '07) approach that everyone in the clubhouse shared. I do think that "chemistry" can be overrated, but not so much in this case; a team that was all uptight and not all that closeknit (which I think would be the result if A-Rod signs, and correct me if I'm wrong but seems to describe the Yankees of recent years) isn't one that's likely to respond well to adversity.

That's what I was saying a few years ago, lol. I'd like to see him stay there, he's doing great and is getting the attention and support he deserves. I'd say he has been the soul of the team, and I think that is a more valuable asset than just simply a great player like A-Rod. Hopefully the higher-ups realize that, but unfortunately more often than not they just look at the numbers...

...Maybe the Marlins can snag him back up? Hmmm?

/Now I'm just being delusional...

Yeah bird I hear ya. I think the young guys in the Yanks locker room have helped, but weren't enough. I think A-rod is counterproductive, especially in big markets like NY or Boston. I agree the Sox shouldn't even entertain him and his greedy agent. He's just bad for business IMO. Not to mention I'd never replace Mike Lowell with him. They're almost polar opposites actually. I don't care about Alex's numbers as much as I care about morale and collective attitude. He just wants to get as much money as possible and inflate his stats as much as possible. What a team player...

Every time I see A-Rod, every time I have to think about him, there's only one image that comes to mind:

One play. One stupid, little play. Yet, it seems somehow to exemplify him perfectly.

That is a great point. Another Marlins reference, but I'd say a perfect example of that is the 03 World Series. The Marlins had a bunch of young guys with a low payroll that were a true 'team' and took on the Yankees, who had the highest salary in baseball (was it something like 4 or 5 times as high as the Marlins?). You can throw as much money around as you want, but unless you get a group of guys that mesh well and can play together as a team, you're just throwin money away.

Exactly. That's the kind of bullsh*t that drove me crazy. The worst part is, his talent could speak volumes for itself if he'd just cut the sh*t and play baseball...

Damn, though... he's good at one thing - bringing Yankee and Red Sox fans together!

Here's to A-Rod getting a ten-year, $500M contract from the Angels! C'mon, Aneheim, he's the frickin' MVP! Sign the man!

Yes, Anaheim, sign the man...and you too can make it to the playoffs, then crash and burn. :D Everybody needs an anti-Mr. October!

As for the Sox, I'm glad to see them win it again...

but I think that Boston fans should have to pay a special tax if the pats win the Bowl like I know they will. One team is enough. Two, well, it's a bit like a monopoly...and we need some anti-trust laws, dammit! :D

Oh rockies...
they played like they beleived they didn't deserve to be there. Every time the sox had 2 outs, they rallied. When the rockies had 2 outs, they grabbed their gloves and quit. Every time.

but was sure a wild ride while it lasted...

Clint Hurdle said it best...the Sox are a good team and we were unbelievably hot. When guys like Lugo and Drew are hitting, you know the other team is in for a tough time. Throw in excellent pitching from start to middle relief to close, and it's simply a tough team to beat.

A-Rod in Boston would simply be a disaster. Statistically, as a right-handed hitter with the Monstah, he would probably be a hitting savant. But Buster Olney put it best in an op-ed piece this morning on ESPN - when A-Rod is on your team, everything is about A-Rod whether you want it to be or not. The guy and his drama is simply all-consuming.

Add to that his numbers in the clutch, and he simply isn't worth it...

For someone who is running the team like a business and is thinking in terms of the butts he puts in seats, the increase in local sports network viewership, etc. (all the things that Boras is counting on), he is probably a good deal. For someone who has enough money that they put baseball first (i.e. Yankees, Sox), he's a dog.

My .02 - worth what you paid for it... :D

So good! So good! So good!

Bobby Kielty has more RBI's in the playoffs than A-Rod....Great in the regular season, can't handle the pressure in the playoffs. F' him..
