Hey all,

Fermentation seemed successful. I have had the beer in bottles for over a week now, however I noticed there is sugar residue/sugar on the bottom of the bottles. Is this normal? I followed the measurements provided by the lovely Mr.Beer. Please let me know if I screw this up. I have been turning the bottles over to try to have the beer dissolve the rest of the sugar. Is this ok?

Ugh let me know

Thanks guys

That is just sediment from spent yeast and unfermentables left in suspension - unless you filter your beer, you'll have sediment when you bottle condition. No worries, it's beer!

Cheers!

Yes thats normal and thats also NOT sugar lol, its yeast/spent byproduct. Dont touch the bottles, let them settle and when pouring your beers, "shoulder" the bottle so no byproduct gets in the glass. Its not bad for you by any means, but ive found it changes the taste, a few report wicked bad farts

The white stuff at the bottom is brewers yeast. You can buy dried brewers yeast at the health food store as it contains lots of vitamins. Drinking your beer with the yeast is good for you but maybe not for the rest of the people around as it creates beer farts until your gut gets used to in/gets the right bacteria to break it down. If you leave your bottles alone long enough this yeast compacts and you will not pour much of it out without shaking the bottle of beer.
