Hello all,

When bottle conditioning a lager, should it be done at the temperature that it was lagered at? Or should it be done at a higher temperature.

Thanks

Lagers benefit from long term cold conditioning which produces that crystal clear finish and clean beer. I'm assuming you are talking about beer that has already carbonated in the bottle. If not the n you need to allow to carbonate first at 70+ until done, then cold condition.

I've done 3 or 4 lagers and cold condition in secondary for 4 to 6 weeks @ 34*F. Then bottle with about 4 grams of Nottingham and priming solution. Leaves a small amount of yeast stuck to the bottom of the bottle but produces crystal clear beer.
