I checked out the sticky's, but could not find this issue well address.

I built a four tap kegerator seen here http://www.flickr.com/photos/38453952@N06

(how in the heck do you paste pictures right into the message??)

Everything is running fine, but two days in, I have a lot of condensation going on. It is sealed well and is holding temp, but I have all of this water. I know that chest freezer are not built for these temps (38F to 40F), but I know with so many of these built, there must be a quick fix I cannot find.

Any ideas? I think I have heard of a tablet or something you drop in.

Thanks

Assuming everything is sealed well (all joints and penetrations caulked) and you have no open liquid containers inside the kegerator, then the moisture has to be migrating through the wood. It's the only porous material on your kegerator. You will probably have to paint the outside wood portion with a vapor resistant paint.

Thanks for the help. Got damprid yesterday. I live near Nashville and with all of the flooding it was on display by the front door and nearly sold out.

It might not solve your problem though. The drier the inside of your fridge, the harder the water vapor pushes it's way in. If the Damprid doesn't work you might still have to paint the wood with vapor resistant paint.

Here are some of your pics by the way:

To paste the pics right into the message you right click on your Flickr picture, click properties, copy the URL address, go to your Homebrewtalk post, click the "insert picture" button, then paste the link. Most picture pages just give you a link to click so you don't have to go to properties, but I couldn't find one on Flickr.

I use DampRid as well.

Actually, I use the generic brand at WalMart called "Closet Dry" or something like that. Same stuff.

Wound up putting some weather stripping around the top of the wood collar. Thought the top seal was enough, but it was not. Put a 25 lb. weight on top to seal them together. This is what it needed. Works great now.

Three taps going now. Dunkleweizen, Golden Ale and a Yazoo IPA.
