Hi all,
Just picked up a couple of bottles of Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA. Has sediment in the bottom. Has anyone harvested yeast from this? I just read on the label when i got home,(couldnt read at beer store,no glasses) it says "conditioned in Scotland". Would this be a no go?

Thanks
Barney

I don't know anything about that beer specifically, but if it has visible sediment it pretty much has to be yeast. Give it about a shot of low grav wort and leave it somewhere warmish for a couple days, you should have some activity as long as it isn't a really old bottle.

You could probably do it if you were very sanitary and built it up SLOWLY. That comes in a clear bottle, right? I'm wondering if the light exposure would affect viability... Then again, Saison DuPont comes in a green bottle and I've brewed a batch from harvested dregs.
