I would really like to be able to try the famous Pliny the Elder. I'm in VA and would like to do an exchange. If you can get PtE and there is anything I can get here that you can't get, let me know and we can setup an exchange.

What do you have there?

Magic Hat?
Founders?
Bells Hopslam
Dogfishhead Red and White? (1st choice wifey loves it)
Three Floyds?

Yes everything Magic Hat, Founders, and DFH is here. The Red & White is limited so I'd have to check on that. Hopslam is only available in the spring, and I already drank all my stock from last year. According to the VA ABC, http://www.abc.virginia.gov/tmtax/dis_fran_desig.jsp, Three Floyds is distributed in VA, but I've never noticed any of their stuff.

If you want to swap something, let me know.

If you don't find a trader here on HBT, there is a very active trading community over on beer advocate. I also wanted to try Pliny, but obviously could not find it anywhere on the east coast. This past summer I ended up trading with an enthusiast in CA -- a bunch of Pliny and other unique west coast IPAs for a bunch of Smuttynose, Dogfish and other east coast IPAs. Here are the folks that have Pliny in their "gots" list:

cool thanks.

any other suggestions based on what you tried? i'm basically looking to try some west coast ipa's that i can't get here

My trader also included one Speakeasy Big Daddy IPA, which was decent, but nothing special and one Moylander Double IPA, which I haven't tried yet. Other west coaster's I haven't tried, but are on my want list are Alesmith IPA and Great Divide Titan.

Alesmith IPA, Ballast Point Dorado 2IPA, Firestone Walker IPA, Ballast Point Sculpin, ANYTHING from Alpine Brewing... this is IPA country, Lagunitas Little Sumpin Extra is good, too. Oh, and Blind Pig. Oh, and Green Flash IPA and Imperial.

alright...so hopslam is in and I still haven't tasted Pliny -- who wants to trade?

also what do you guys think is a fair trade ratio? what is the retail price on Pliny? hopslam is $19.99 a six here. also, Pliny is out all year and hopslam is such a limited release - how much should that factor in?

Fair trade ratio = dollars to dollars

For exmple Pliny only shows up here about every 6 months, does that make it more valuable now when I can get it? Price I have seen for a 500 ml bottle is between $4.50 and $6.00.

I'm looking to obtain a bottle of Three Floyds Dreadnaught IPA. Can trade some tasty Denver-available brews. Pliny, Great Divide, Odell's Brewery. PM with any offers!

Moylander is available here. Great Divide also just because available recently. I though the Oaked Yeti was awesome. I had the Titan and wasn't too impressed though. The bottle was about 9 months old though, so I'll reserve judgement for a fresh bottle.

Lagunitas and Green Flash are both available here. So is Ballast Point, although I've never seen Sculpin.

I went with michaeltrego's advice and setup some trades on beeradvocate. I was able to get pliny along with alot of other west coast stuff i had been interested in. it was really easy, and i would highly recommend it for anyone looking to try beers they can't get.

Was browsing the store today and seen pliney, I was eyeing the Pipeline Porter-its seasonal and a favorite. I seen DFH-there were a few. If you still want some, send me an email. We can do something Im sure. hint, hint... sharksfan9727 at gmail dot com. Is this/that wrong, or to easy? I will trade for sure...
