Just wondering if anyone has had experience with this. I brewed an all-grain Chocolate Porter the other day with Baker's unsweetened chocolate. The recipe warned about cocoa butter being present in the mix but also assured me that with proper siphoning I would be able to remove it from the finished product since is floats to the top anyway. More to the point, my Original Gravity was much lower than I suspected it would be (1.030). Is this due in part to the fact that I have cocoa butter floating around in my mix, or should I be concerned?

No, the cocoa butter will have no impact on the OG. I'd guess you have an efficiency problem in your process.

Cocoa butter has no effect on the OG. Did you use refined or unrefined butter? You can read about the differences between them Cocoa Butter Unrefined. Hope you would find there all the needed information. You can also read reviews about them before purchasing.
