Co2 tank and regulator

10lbs will obviously last longer, and usually its cheaper per pound to fill. Dual regulators look cool but honestly? The high pressure gauge, the one that supposedly reports tank pressure is just about useless. Some people just put a piece of tape across the face and ignore them.

If you put your CO2 tank in the fridge/kegerator, the gauge will drop quite a lot. That's just because of pressure changes that come from the cold. It's nothing to worry about. The drop might believe you to think you have a leak. That's a possibility but from my experience the tank in a refrigerated environments will loose pressure to a point and then stop after 12-24 hours. If it is still dropping pressure after that, there very well may be a leak.

The bad thing about dual regulators... you'll think youre good to go. One night it will still be steadily sitting where it settled.. next day you'll be out of gas.

I recommend saving your money and using it on a scale. There is a tare weight (empty bottle weight) stamped on every pressurized gas tank. Note it.
After your CO2 bottle is filled, weigh it. The difference in tare and how much the bottle weighs full is the amount of CO2 you have. Time and use will give you an idea how long the tank will last. Weighing it is the only way to know how much CO2 on hand.

Tanks, even five pounders last quite a long time. It's not so much a question of how long they will last, it's more like, how often do you want to fill them and what is the ease and availability of a fill-up.

Thanks, that is very helpful especially the cost aspect.
I should also mention that I live in S Fla so the closer, the better if anyone has anything.

There is a gentleman selling tanks here on HBT. Highly recommended. Then get a new regulator so that you have a warranty.

pschad, check out amazon.com. I can't remember the company they work with but if you look up 10 pound CO2 tank a company that sells refurbished ones will come up. Their prices are pretty great and the shipping isn't bad.

The last time I looked they were selling 10lb tanks for around $59 and shipping to California was another 25. Not a bad deal in my opinion. Many folks only want aluminum tanks. You can look up the reasons for that but I'll give you a hint - status quo.

Steel tanks are nearly indestructible. There are still some in use built pre WWI

I'm pretty sure I know who you are talking about. I don't know him personally but pretty sure I'm familiar with his business and he is a REALLY good fella to do business with.

Yes, he is a good guy to deal with. I picked up a couple from him and everything went flawless.

And...never bought something used that was supposed to work? Then a week later it failed. Seller said sorry, worked when I sold it. Buying new and that happened, you'll more than likely be taken cared of.

Thanks for all of the help. Saw the one for $60 that was steel but read that they can rust if inside a freezer (which it would be). If that is not the case, that is a good option. Will look for the guy on here also. Thanks again. I really do appreciate it.
