Hi guys,

I've got a setup as pictured, I've got the Wilko pressure Keg, and just purchased a Co2 bottle with regulator, I want to know if I still need a spunding valve or if that regulator I have will regulate the excess pressure in the fermenter created by the yeast?

With my setup, I now need to buy a male ball-lock post but the ones on ebay don't look to have very big flanges for plastic lids, can I use washers @ PTFE tape to provide better sealing on the lid surface?

Most regulartors have a backflow valve that will keep them from actually working as a spunding valve, but it's impossible to say just by looking at a picture I'm afraid.

Thanks for your reply Vale,
I did pressurise the line to the ball-lock valve then turn the regulator down and pressure seemed to stay high. Is there a name or term for a diaphragm regulator that will do what I want? I'd rather fork out on a proper / different brass Co2 regulator than a plastic spunding valve.

I'm afraid the right term is indeed "spunding valve", sorry. Pressure regulator are really not meant to be used the way you inted to.

Something like one of these? I don't know about the Blichmann one, on the left, but the other ones are 0-30 psi, much better to adjust in our useful working range than the generic 0-100 psi you see elsewhere. No plastic, except for the QD.

Thanks for your help guys,

After reading around some other places, I bought a Shako NR200 to use as a spunding valve, The regulators that vent pressure on the low side are 'Relieving' regulators, but I can't find any for reasonable coin, I just need various miscellaneous fittings now, might visit a local industrial supply shop, because many of the online brew shops sell korn keg ball lock posts / males but not the flange mount.
