Is there any benefit to purging bottles with CO2 before filling them? I have the CO2 purge system from WilliamsBrewing and will be bottling a BDSA that I plan to age for a long while. Is there any benefit to this or is it detrimental to properly carbonate and just a waste of resources and time?

I see the need for a purge system when using a secondary for extended aging, to ensure you remove all O2 possible from the head space. I am unsure what benefit you would get when using it when bottling. If you fill the bottle to the top, all the air is pushed out, so purging in advance of this would just be a waste of CO2 IMO.

Your logic answers that question! I hadn't thought that by filling the bottle to the top all the CO2 is pushed out anyway.
