co2 into headspace?

hi im new to the forum and have been reading about secondary headspace
some say that there is nothing to worry about and others say it should be kept to a minimum

i was wondering if this could be used to make sure i get all the o2 out as im going to be using a 33Litre bin for 23 litre brew (not sure what that is in gallons)

my idea is to remove the air lock and give it a quick blast then put the air lock back on

is this a stupid idea?

am i making things more complicated than what they need to be?

its just that this will be my first attempt and i dont want to wait weeks to find out i have messed up and have to start all over

I go straight from the fermenter into kegs & I always fill the keg with CO2 before racking. That way I don't have to be so careful about splashing. Generally, enough CO2 will come out of the brew during racking to fill the space. For all the fears about oxidation you will see, it's a rare homebrew that lasts long enough to oxidize.

I think it is best to minimize the headspace. But I think the risk of oxidation is over played. I always get a little more fermentation activity when I rack because some sugars get resuspended. Any additional fermentation produces CO2 which is heavier than O2 and will push it out of the airlock first.
