CO2 and Kegging 101

how does this all this stuff work? I found some reconditioned corny's for $30 apice and a farmer selling a lg. CO2 tank in good condition, but without a stamp. Is a test expensive or difficult to facilitate? Would finding a gas bottling service where I can just fill and refill their tank be best? Any thoughts?

If you are not too attached to the co2 bottle and is out of date you can swap it for a full one at a welding supply and let them deal with the retesting. The basic concept of a keg system is to just fill the corny with beer, attach gas to one side to push it out and attach a faucet to the other to dispense it. One of the concerns about kegging is keeping it cold which most people will have a dedicated frig for this. I will let someone else go into the rest of the details or you can do a search.

Thanks - I am pretty familiar with the kegging idea, what I don't know much about is th CO2 tank procedure. I suppose I should really talk to a local company that fills them.

Hydrotest aren'tpensive, $10-20. But you can probably trade yours in. Try a welding gas supply, or a keg beer seller.

My little portable bottle was an empty CO2 fire extinguisher. Hav them change the valve when they hydro, and fill with CO2...
