so i have a "clone" beer recipe book i just bought and i am a bit confused about their recipes. It has the option of making recipes by extract(w/specialty grains), all grain, and also "Mini-Mash". On the Mini-mash method you are basically doing the same thing as a partial-mash but substituting a small amount of british pale 2-row for a portion of the DME. Here's where it gets confusing to me. They say to add anywhere from 2-2.5 lbs. of British pale 2-row and deduct 2 lbs of the DME from what the recipe calls for. ???? this doesnt add up correctly does it?
I thought for a typical 70%-75% efficiency mash u would need more like 3.35 lbs of British pale 2-row to substitute for 2 lbs. of DME. I'm confused. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. thanks
