How long after i clean and sanatize a keg before i need to use it or risk having to sanatize again?

Hmm, lots of looks no reply. Well what i did was clean and sanatize a refurbed keg and then put it back together. i then wrapped the posts in saran wrap so they would stay clean as well.

Think will work so if i decide to keg tomorrow it will all be ***** and span clean?

That is a pretty open ended question. So much depends on the storage environment I usually sanitize, and then rinse just before usage

If the keg is closed and the inside sanitized then the inside is sanitary for some time. Remember that sanitary is defined as being free of harmful levels of disease causing micro organisms or contaminants. Over time those trance amounts of microorganisms can grow, although in a sanitized vessel they'd have to overcome some pretty significant enviornmental difficulties.

Overnight is definately fine. If you start having to count weeks then enviornmental conditions start coming into play.

Incidentally, you can forego wrapping the posts and simply resanitize the posts prior to use. This is one thing that keeping a spray bottle of sanitizer around is good for.

Is it acceptable to store the sanitizer in the kegs like I normally do with my carboys? I'm not familiar with kegging, but would the sanitezer eventually tarnish the ss?

I'm open to suggestions. Probably PBW? Normally I just use One-Step on everything but the carboys. I normally put 1/8 cup of Chlorox in them and fill them with water. I know Chlorox is a no no with stainless though.

One thing you could do to keep your kegs sanitized is to fill the keg up with a One-Step sani solution. Then after it is sanitized purge the solution out of the keg with CO2. Then your keg will be sanitized and purged and will stay clean for quite some time (assuming you don't have any leaks.)

I normally leave a couple quarts of sanitizer in my kegs. I also re-sanitize if it's been more than two weeks.

I store my cleaned kegs sealed off with two quarts of sani solution. Before use I just purge the solution out. Have used some stored this way after several months without a problem.

I hope you don't think that PBW is a sanitizer! PBW is a fine cleaner, but won't provide you any real sanitization action.
