I'm new to brewing and did not get any clarifying agent for my dilerious double ipa and my primary fermentation is almost done. I'm moving it to secondary soon but is there any way to do clarifying before I keg besides cold crashing it at the end?
 
You can add some gelatin to clarify things but that might remove a lot of the hops taste and aroma.

The best way is to make sure it's done fermenting and cold crash.

And wait longer... The waiting game sucks but pays off.

Don't know for sure since I've never used it. Just asking. Descriptions of it on Amazon seem to indicate it is added to the fermenter but I could be wrong on that.
 
Isinglass or gelatin, both used in the fermenter. Both need to be rehydrated before use and they both work best if the beer is as cold as you can get it. Gelatin has worked the best for me and I can usually keg 24 hours after application.
 
I use gelatin regularly in my IPAs/DIPAs and I honestly notice 0 difference in the flavor or aroma. Plus my beer comes out crystal clear.

I just add the recommended amount to my keg after its cold, let it sit for a couple days, then draw off a couple cloudy pints and its crystal clear after that.

Yeah the stripping of hop flavor/aroma by gelatin is total BS.
 
I've started to use gelatin before I dry hop. I do this to drop as much of the yeast out as I can. The yeast is what can cause you to lose hop aroma.
 
Gelatin does wonders. I use corneys for a secondary because it's a hell of a lot easier to move around and to dry hop in. I've noticed a slight decrease in hop aroma, not flavor with gelatin, so I just compensate with an extra ounce. All in all though, gelatin is hands down the best way IMO to clear your beer. Cold crash, add gelatin, crystal clear beer.

Thanks for the replies. Where do I get the gelatin and how much to use? Local beer supply? Grocery store? Is is jello? lol What flavor? lol 5 gallon batch. How cold is cold? I have a 5 cubic foot keezer set up for my fermentation. Thanks again!

You can use plain old Knox gelatin from the grocery store. It's really a very simple process. Here's a link that will take you through the steps:

Thank you for the info. I've been cold crashing for 1 week and was told by another friend to use gelatin in the keg, wait a few days and dump the first couple of glasses which will remove the settled out stuff. I'll be better prepared next time(irish moss). I know now why they say to brew basic beer recipes 1st so you can get the kinks out at less expense but I like imperial ipa's so .....
