I've got some re-usable bottle caps to sell to his first customer. Some much for cost effectiveness of byo.

Um, that's me. I don't appreciate your negativity and I certainly think the level of expertise I provide is valuable. I also bring the equipment and ingredients, so it's not all pure profit.

Of course that's not me- and I think it's crazy enough to work. All along, I've been trying to learn to brew and help others for FREE! I want you all to send me a check for $249 right now! :D

"Check is in the mail"

If its allgrain, the average brewday is approx 6hours, including chilling and clean up and explaining. plus your using his equipment. and he probably doesnt ask for the bottles back. So after you subtract ingredient costs, its approx $30-35 per hour.

not cheap or recommened but i dont think hes crazy. there are lots of people with money to spend

It's obviously an Extrect brew since he wants to brew on your stove. He's either stupid or understands that a lot of stoves could not handle a full boil without ruining the stovetop.

Looks like a college student who can't find a job right now trying to make his way. If he can find a few people willing to spend a LOT more than they should to have some guy brew beer in their own kitchen, more power to him.

But these people should go online and see if they can find the same info for FREE.

That's pretty much how I feel! I'm always trying to get people into the hobby & help others for free... I guess it's time to get a Homebrewers' Labor Union started to set standard rates to charge people who ask for help... :D

Yes. But how else are you gonna learn from Doctuh Beer.

I think Stanford was a typo. he really means he has a Phd from Samford (and sons).

There's a guy around here that's been posting a similar deal - though I think he's asking $75 plus ingredients. To be honest, I think there's a market for such training (though probably not so much at $249). Yes, you can read all you want about homebrewing, but for most it's hard to find someone to teach you to brew hands on... hb'ing sounds harder than it is - which I think scares many from that first brew.

Ooh! I has idea! (sorry, had to quote my 2yr old.) We should make a basic Homebrewing video & post a link on CL for the whopping price of $free! you know... or not...

Most LHBS offer a brew day service. and many, also offer troubleshooting classes for a minimal fee.
