citra single hop ipa. too sweet,

It was 1.012-1.013. I was expecting it to be in the low 20s. Just scratching my head wondering.
 
Citra hops impart a sweet ish flavor.

If it is really that dry, residual sugar isn't the issue.
 
I would say yeast too. British ale yeasts are too estery for US IPA's.

Yea it makes sense . I will steer away from those on my IPAs. The clone called for ESB. I took the chance. It is still.enjoyable by all means, just not what I expected
 
Its prob what yooper said, under bittering. Had a similar issue with a 2 hearted clone. was using whole hops for the first time and used my hop spider. should have just threw it into the boil without the sipder and upped the hops. was hoppy but bitterness wasnt there and tasted sweet even though the FG wasnt that high.

i dont think citra hops makes the beer sweet. it does give it a nice passionfruit flavor and aroma which i love. my citra / mosiac ipa is awesome and not sweet at all... smells like a tropical fruit orgy
