To be fair, it wouldn't be unheard of for CCB. See: Huna '14 batch 2 after full refunds. Unnecessary for sure though.
If I were them and felt the need to do something I'd email all the "losers" a free draft...they'll make money off that!
I think they can easily refund the people who were charged $0.00

I don't know...have you seen CCB's IT department?

Wow, so my brother just got this email from ccb! He was one of the people that was able to check out without the membership but everything else in his cart. Pretty funny, I mean we were laughing about it that night that he checked out with zero dollars, no club membership in the cart and no option to pay so it seemed pretty clear that he just missed out. Knew it was a long shot anyway, but didn't care. This is nice, albeit unnecessary surprise though.

That's weird. Just selling round 3 and 4th edition will be available in the coming months. Sounds like they are going to be cranking out round 3 beers. Although does that mean expanding the club to more people? Who says everyone isn't going to renew?

From what I've read I think it's been a pretty steady 200 open slots for the following edition. They may also just brew slightly bigger batches for round 4 since they can kind of plan the potential size.

If the 3rd round is only a few months long, the number of people who get a large benefit from the 10% off taproom discount will be much smaller this time around.

There are some labels already approved so I'm going to assume that most of what Round 3 will bring is done and ready - or getting close to being so.

Yeah but the number of people in the club has been the same. It was people not renewing from what I understand.

Wonder if BA Big Sound will be one of our bottles.

and someone, somewhere did mention or quote them as saying the turn around for round 3 would be quick and wouldn't be based off a 12 month time frame per edition.

They've never had a 12 month time frame but whenever the 5th beer was released. Wouldn't surprise me that they have some queue'd up

I'd love to get one. It's one of my favorites and I can only buy it in a stupid ass gift box for 50 bucks right now.

Yeah. Odd way to offer those. Most people don't want two of the same glass, especially a style of glass they've never used before.

If BA Big Sound was on the shelf at $30, is that an easy buy? I'd probably pass but many would go for it.

Yep, bought it for 28 last time it came around. Liked it so much I bought 2 more.

Thinking back, round one only lasted 6 months. Bottle #1 (Forgotten Island) was August, and bottle #5 (DB Huna) was January. IIRC

Maybe I'll finally get to meet some of you. I've only met 2 of you guys in person

What exactly arethe details on this? I couldn't find any info anywhere.

From their FB page:

We are pleased to announce the first-ever El Catador Club exclusive event on Monday, March 7th at 7:00pm, at Cigar City Brewing during Tampa Bay Beer Week.

Introducing: The Cellar Raid. We've raided our vintage beer cellar and are offering access to these nigh-impossible-to-find beers exclusively to select El Catador Club members.

Our staff has hand-selected some of our most difficult to find kegs to pour for this event. Among the beers available will be:

-2013 Hunahpu's Imperial Stout
-2015 Endless Nameless Bourbon Barrel-aged Imperial Stout
-2012 Leon Brandy Barrel-aged Barley Wine
-2014 110K+OT Batch #7 Imperial Chocolate Porter

In addition to these beers available for sale by-the-glass, we've also mined the depths of our bottle cellar to find some truly outrageous bottles to share with our El Catador Club members. These bottles will not be for sale by the bottle or by the glass but will be offered free-of-charge in sample sizes to all in attendance. A brief glimpse at the list includes:

-2013 Don Gavino's Big Guava Chardonnay Barrel-aged Sour Ale
-2013 California Brandy Barrel-aged Hunahpu's Imperial Stout
-2014 Grandmule Bourbon Barrel-aged Imperial Porter
-2014 Rum Barrel-Aged Caffè Americano Double Stout
-2012 Hot Blooded Foreign Export Stout

...and many others.

El Catador Club members are encouraged to join in the Cellar Raid by bringing ONE BOTTLE from their own collection to share with your fellow club members (750 mL or smaller only!). Bottles will be collected upon entrance and served by Cigar City Brewing staff. Bottle shares beyond this are not permitted during this event. Any bottles beyond the one-per-person limit will be epicly drain-poured before the entire crowd.

Event starts promptly at 7:00pm in the Fermentorium at Cigar City Brewing. Tickets to the exclusive event are $5, the entirety of which will be donated to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation (http://fastercure.org/) and are available by clicking here:

https://store.cigarcitybrewing.com/the-cellar-raid-p198.aspx

Make sure you're logged in as an El Catador Club member to view the item!

Due to capacity, there are only 100 tickets available.

Purchase of tickets guarantees ticket holder the ability to purchase any vintage beer available on draught and several complimentary sample-sized pours of various vintage bottled beers. Ticket holder is NOT guaranteed samples of any specific bottles and samples will NOT be offered to those who are visibly intoxicated."
