Hi I made cider from tesco value apple juice and it was great , wife loved it so I thought I would do a bigger batch , so I did the same recipe but X 3 . Only thing is I have used a bit more sugar than before as for some reason I though I was doing 4 x the amount , no problems there but the wife said the last batch was strong enough and wants the next batch to be the same if not a bit weaker , question is when I rack it can I just add more apple juice to weaken it down , will it start fermenting again , I don't think it will as I will rack into another container for a few days and leave sediment behind , thanks in advance

There is still yeast suspended in the liquid, even after racking. It can take a year for it all to drop out. So it will ferment more, but you're still diluting it like you wanted.

If you add a gallon, you'd be at the 4 gallons you thought you had. Add 1.5, and it will be a little weaker.

Thanks all . Presumed it would be ok, so I will add some more juice and leave it to ferment if it needs to for another week

Just another quicky following in from that if I transfer the cider to another demijohn minus the sediment and then add the apple juice , this won't effect the cider as reading posts it looks like I new to fill it to the brim to remove any air. ??? So can I just stick the air lock back on
