So, the Homebrew Store that I use carries cans of Vintner's Harvest in a variety of flavors. I've been looking at branching out from apple as a base, and don't really have any access to fruit crops during the season. So these cans are looking more and more attractive.

From what I can tell on the website, it appears that there are two sizes of cans. One for 3gal of full bodied wine, and one for 5gal of full bodied wine. If my quick math serves me well this morning before coffee, a smaller can at 5gal should be right at cider strength. And it's reasonably priced. About $25-30 dollars depending on the flavor.

Has anyone used these, and if so, what were your results?

Very interesting. What kinda fruit flavors? Maybe make a nice fruit wine and blend with Apple cider after fermenting. Listening..,,

Can't say I've used vintners harvest kits, but I frequently use the Black Rock cider kit. Same idea, just for making a standard apple cider. Very good results so far after going through two cans, started my third today. The blackberry kit intrigues me. I'll have to see if I can find something similar in Canada.

If all else fails, I suppose you could order it. But the shipping might be a deal breaker??? I'm heading back to Tulsa next week, I think I'm going to pick up a can or two. Probably along with a American Ale smack pack for the yeast. I'm thinking I'll play around with it and see how it turns out. But it'll be a while before I can do it. I have all my fermenters filled at the moment....

I don't know that they make two sizes of cans. The recipes they provide enable you to make a rich flavored wine for 3 gallons and a much thinner flavored wine at five gallons. The difference is the amount of water you use to dilute the concentrate or puree (and so the amount of additional sugar you need to add to make the wine at the recommended starting gravity (and so potential ABV). Never tried their pressed apples but I can attest to their elderberry and their gooseberry. I would stick with making 3 gallon batches/can for the flavor.

So this puree/syrup is something you'd need to add sugar to? I must have missed that part. I guess if you used juice instead of water it wouldn't be an problem, but that definitely changes things, not necessarily for the worse....
