I'm excited about Christmas, my favorite time of year!!!!

Commercial crap.
Greed.
****ing crappy piped music.
Crappy presents for people I don't like.
Lets be nice 'cause it's Christmas. **** 'em.
I'll be nice because I want to be nice.
And don't spend a few £££ on a ****y present and expect me to be grateful.

Yes I really do hate it that much.

Agreed. Don't forget, we HAVE to go to church eventhough we don't go any other day all year! My local shopping mall had Santa out for pictures 2 days after halloween!

With that said, I look forward to the holidays because they bring my family/friends together...

Now I'm depressed.

I'm going the pub.

That's the one good thing.
Some people genuinely do make a litlle effort.
I like to take the time to try and see people I've not seen in the year.

People never believe me that holidays/special occasions are enjoyable for me because of that reason. Everyone is too focused on material $h!t...

I'm just looking forward to putting up a tree this year. While paying for our wedding, SWMBO and I had a small apartment and had no room for one. The smell of the pine just reminds me of my childhood.

I personally don't get anything out of Christmas, but it's a great time of year to be a parent with young kids. The excitement on their faces come Christmas morning is worth all the freaking money we have to spend on it.

Of course, it probably helps that SWMBO does all the shopping and is always done before November even rolls around. I just have to sit down with a breakfast stout and watch them open presents. :rockin:

I agree with the rest of ya. I've got a big family, so it's always nice to see everyone together for the holidays. I don't care much for the presents. If I get them that means I have to give, and I don't have the money for it nor do I really have anything that I want.

/Other than a AG set up!
/Though I need to get a house first!

Bah, take it for what it is. Don't let it get to you. Enjoy yourself and eff everyone else!

I'm agreeing with orfy here...

/Off to find some beer...

Oh ya try having my last name. Every time Christmas Story comes on some smart a$$ has to say something about my dogs eating the turkey. Ha ha I've never heard that before. (moron) Work my a$$ off during December. It's our busiest time of the year. Christmas is such a relief when it gets here, I don't even care. God, I hate Christmas.

I have mixed feelings about Christmas. Overall, I'd say its a net positive for me. But I'm always glad when its over.

Love:
Holiday atmosphere
Christmas lights and decorations
Gatherings of family and friends
Excited children

Hate:
Crass commercialism
Cheap plastic battery powered toys from China
Pressure to shop and spend
Unrelenting pressure from my mom to come home for Christmas. Shut the farck up already!

I hate Christmas:

Wife works retail so I never see her
Families bicker over where we will go for the day
Bill O'Reilly and all the rest spew their War Against Christmas/No there isn't rhetoric
Half my money gets spent buying crap no one needs

So yeah, I hate it.

I enjoy Christmas as one of the times when I really get to sit back and relax with my family. My dad comes down, cooks a wonderful Christmas eve and day meal. As a family, we indulge in the fine things of life through food and a constant wave of drinking. We sit around, share stories and just enjoy each others company. I even do like going out and getting gifts for the people that I care about. Then again, we keep our Christmas time very personal and with our close family so that's nice. I don't have to fake phony crap and pretend I like aunt or cousin X that I see once a year just because it's Christmas. Nope, it's all about the good people in our lives that actually know what's going on with eachother.

I'm sorry for all of you that don't have good Christmas experiences or have loved ones that get hit with the huge commercialism of Christmas. I can understand how that tends to taint the holiday for you. =(

Count me among those that love Christmas. I try to keep the true spirit of the holiday alive and teach the kids what it's really about. I like having some time off work, visiting with family, all the great food and decorating the house.

I'm a bit surprised to see so much negativity.
