Every year I tell myself I am going to do a Christmas Ale and ever year I end up forgetting or remembering when it's too late.

I want to do the one Midwest Supplies offers as it has some solid reviews, but if I do one this weekend will it be ready in time for Christmas or have I waited too long once again?

I use the 123 method. 1 week in primary 2 wks in secondary 3 wksin the bottle. I usually don't secondary so i just do 3 weeks in primary. This is a general guideline and higher gravity ales like a RIS will vary. This should give you the general sense that if you brew now it should be ready in time for santa.

Edit: the hydrometer/ FG determines when its time to bottle and your taste buds are the final arbiter on when its ready for consumption. The above is a rule of thumb. As you can see below rules of thumb can result in undesirable results. Trust your instruments

You still have time. I made mine on 9/24. I usually do two weeks in the primary then racket to a 5 gal secondary and let it sit for a bit. Then i bottle it about 4 weeks prior to thanksgiving and cold age it until xmas. Sorry about your thumb
