Does anybody here chill without a lid on their kettle? My new immersion chiller is quite large and the lid will not fit on the pot. I have a Bayou burner which is a 7 gal aluminum kettle. The lid will not come close to even covering the pot halfway with the chiller in it. Would you cover it with tinfoil? Snip the lip somehow? I'm not really handy so I need advice here. Thanks in advance!

I always chill with the lid off but I brew in my garage. The only exception would be if there was a lot of wind kicking up dust.

I don't use a lid when I'm cooling either. As long as you aren't taking hours to cool your wort you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

I use 2 pieces of plastic wrap. Positioned with the overlap in the middle of the pot, I keep my spoon inserted in the opening so I can stir while chilling.
