Hello everyone. My name is Craig, I recently gained intrest in brewing my own beer. I used to brew with my father when I was younger, I think I got through about 2 batches and then kind of lost intrest, got married, joined the US coast guard, and had a couple kids. Now since my life has settled down some I have decided to start brewing again. Although, everything that I knew before I have forgotten. I am only on one other forum and it is a car forum at that. I have learned a great deal from that forum and hope to do the same here. Thank you for any future help or insite you give.

Craig

Welcome Craig,
If your a car guy this hobby will likely suit you well. It requires patience and tenacity just like monkeying with cars.
I love Petaluma, we stayed there and drank "Beer Speaks People Mumble" and attended the AMA Superbike at Infineon May 2009. I sure wish I could live in NorCal you have it all, great beers and great motorcycle roads.

Alright Craig, welcome to our happy band of misfits. Plenty of North Bay brewers on here, I'm just down the road from you in San Rafael. Check out the Sonoma Beerocrats for a local club!

Thanks for the warm welcome, I will definately do that. Any local shops around here, I keep finding wine supplies when I search on the internet, hopefully something in Petaluma or Rohnert Park?

Nearest shop to you would be the Beverage People up in Santa Rosa, which is an excellent LHBS. Pricey, but not bad. If you're an all grain brewer, or planning to do that, head out to Morebeer in Concord, it's worth the drive for their prices (50# sacks of 2-row for $32.50 - every now and again, a few of us organize a group buy from there. No discounts, alas, but one guy schleps out (ususally me) and picks up for everyone.)
