Hello all! First off I'd like to say this forum is awesome! I've been on this forum for about a week doing massive amounts of research, and this place is a gold mine!

I just started my first batch of blonde ale in a mr beer kit 3 days ago and I'm stoked! I've already put together a shopping list of all the equipment I need for 5 gallon batches. I'm way impatient, I just want beer now!

Cheers!

robb117, Welcome to the friendliest, most obsessive, crazy, enlightening, & soon to be the most expensive addiction known to man, or Yooper. (if you don't know Yooper is a woman). There are two definate schools of thought when it comes to home brewing beer: 1) Listen to the advice of those that have gone before you, knowing that grain to glass time is seldom short for great beers to be born, and 2) Why should I to go back to the store for beer, when this is close enough to ready anyway?
Okay, maybe it isn't that cut and dry, but your patience when brewing beer (or anything else for that matter) is always rewarded. Okay, maybe not always, but you get my drift.

Hey thanks for the welcome guys. I'm stoked to start brewing and getting into the hobby. I can feel my wallet already getting light! I already checked out the local brew shop in ogden and feel like I'll be paying their rent for the next little while.

I really want to get the 5 gallon setup but it might be a little too much for one guy so I'm thinking of going with a 3 gallon setup doing partial and all grain setups. I saw a recipe by DeathBrewer for a banana bread ale that looks killer, and a pumpkin ale that I love. Looking forward to spending my time learning and sharing from the best of the best here!
