Can anyone provide some information on where this Cheerios flavor comes from in a no boil Berliner Weisse?

I brewed a 60% German Pilsner Malt, 40% wheat malt no boil, no hop Berliner on Saturday and I've been getting loads of Cheerios flavor.

I've seen it mentioned in a few places and no one really has a good explanation; I've seen it listed as an intermediary by-product of Bret (no bret in this Berliner) and that it can come from toasted malts (not applicable in this beer, either).

You can read more about that characteristic (Tetrahydropyridine) over here. The page includes several links regarding the discussion of that character in beers with much more reading.
