ok, im very strapped for cash at the moment, and have a full brew to bottle. i have been going to bars alot to get empties, and im getting some, but not enough. (i did two brews, after alot of trips i have almost enough for one brew)

what are some cheap alternatives to bottles? would 2 litre bottles work? think like sprite or something

coke bottles work. just keep them out of the UV lights once you fill them. with those you pinch the bottle, fill, cap, then release. as the beer carbonates it will return the bottle to a normal shape and make it rock hard.

you mean like the 12oz ones?

so i smash the bottle, fill it, then itll pop itself back out?

I collected a lot of champagne bottles. They take the same size cap but are bigger in size. Depends on if the local bars serve champagne or not, but That's a possible additional source.

I've never done it but I met some brewers that used 2 litre soda bottles for their beer. Obviously they would need to be kept in the dark but they would give you some time to collect enough glass bottles for you next batch.

yep thats right.... well i don't know about "smash". more like squeeze. open a bottle of coke and see how much head space you have. then squeeze the bottle till that head space is gone. thats about how much you want to squeeze the bottles when you fill them.
