Cheap spectrometers to estimate IBU?

I'm planning to grow some hops this year and was just going to use them for aroma and dry hopping but I got interested in being a bit more accurate with the alpha levels and came across some DIY methods to make a spectrometer for cheap, either with a cheap webcam or even a phone and some free software. Are they accurate enough to give a decent estimate alpha acids?

I don't know, but IBU is a measurement after the fact, not a prescription, nor prediction.
