I was out shopping today and found some 1 litre swingtops. I was wondering if they are suitable for carbonated beverages. They are made in Italy and from looking online they seem to be made of "hardened glass" and states it's no problem with hot liquids. Some sites list it as almost unbreakable. They seem sturdy to me. They were only $1.99 ea. They are clear unfortunately. I was really only planning on filling them from the keg to bring to friends houses.
I think they should be ok.

I would compare them against ones designed to actually hold carbonated liquids. Just because they are given good reviews, doesn't mean they'll hold up to the pressures from your brew sitting in it... Just like wine bottles are nice, and can be very tough, but you need ones designed to handle carbonation before you can put either beer or champagne into them. Not sure if the actual glass is the same, or if a different mixture is used for those designed to hold carbonation.

Is it really worth risking your brew to save a couple of dollars??
