Did you have rocket ride? Its the only one I've had, and no its not a masterpiece, more of an every day drinker. Its not a fad beer either so its not gonna be juicy or cloudy. Just a nice little crushable ipa imo.

Starting to lean this way myself. I won't say heist beers have fallen off entirely, but there is a lot of mediocre batches coming out right now as they expand. Their food though. How is serving that stuff even legal?

Side note: Had a bold missy rocket ride IPA was super clean, balanced and I could find nothing wrong with it. Pretty nice coming from a relatively new brewery. Will be watching them and trying their stuff throughout the next year to see where they go.

Wait, does their food suck? I haven't been there since the expansion but I'm intrigued

It is horrible imo. The only thing I can stand is the beer cheese and the chicken and waffles. Everything else is just cheap....especially for the price. If they knocked the price down 40% on everything that would be about right imo. Their profit margin on food must be record-setting. The wings are rubber garbage, the shrimp is like rubber as well. The only two things I'll eat there, I cannot eat there, as they have too many carbs. Chicken and waffles and beer cheese.

Back before Eric joined the team I feel like the beer was awful and the food was the only redeeming thing. Then again, I got the chicken and waffles. Haha

Yea I remember those times. Some of the meals have always been good, like that one. But as I explored the menu over the past year I was not pleased at all. They really don't change it up either. The full sized wings I got there were downright disgusting.

I got to Charlotte this morning, and after a quick nap at my AirBnB, I’m out and about. So far I’ve been to a Bojangles (dat Cajun chicken biscuit), Salud Cerveceria, and Heist. Salud’s beers were pretty damn good. They had a pale ale and a dunkel that I could consume on the reg. The coffee is also good. I think you guys are all over Heist, but I’m liking what I’ve got, and the carne asada flatbread really hit the spot. I’m gonna head out to High Branch for open, and then probably back to the BnB for a breather before other activities in the vicinity of the NJPW show at Grady Cole later tonight. Will update again later when I’m on more beer and have viewed professional wrestling.

Sounds like you're doing it right minus Bojangles (but I get it). High Branch has a double can release today. Haven't been to a release of theirs since one of their first few, so no idea if that means lines or what. Either way, you'll still be able to get to the bar and be on beer in no time...

Resident Culture is prob a 5 min uber ride from Grady Cole and I highly recommend their spot. Plus they are tapping some CBD beer in like 3 mins if that's your thing...

High Branch was great and totally worth the drive out there. I hit Resident Culture as well last night and really liked everything I had there. I went to Cellar at Duckworths after the NJPW show and had this delicious oyster dish and some pretty bangin cocktails. I was sufficiently on beer and other booze at that point so I went to bed.

I got coffee this morning at Coco and the Director, which was good. Didn’t do as much as I originally planned to do today but right now I’m at Wooden Robot. Cuban sandwich and fries were delicious, but filling. The beers I’ve had are all very nice. I’m seeing Joyce Manor and Jeff Rosenstock at World tonight. I don’t know what if anything I’ll do after, but I’m open to suggestions.

I’m also gonna go to Bojangle’s again tomorrow before I drive out to Fonta Flora. #nonerageertz

sounds like you're doing it right. Heist's flatbreads are ok. I just bitch because I can't eat bread. If I were eating bread, the menu would be much better.

I'm no longer in Charlotte, but my last day included a trip out to Fonta Flora and Olde Hickory, then watching the Super Bowl at the airport. FF was great, and totally worth the visit. They had some kind of puppy adoption event going on while I was there, so I definitely stayed longer than I planned. Super nice, awesome staff. Olde Hickory was fine, but maybe I went to the wrong location. I think they have 2 or 3 different spots, and I went to the Olde Hickory Taproom, which was more of a restaurant. I enjoyed the beers I had, but they had like 4 high abv stouts on that I couldn't really try since I was driving, so it might just be my problem. But everyone there was super nice, and I would definitely go back.

Overall, a nice visit, and I would definitely come back.

Welp, its settled imo. High Branch is the best brewery in the Charlotte area. Got a stout, dry hopped BA sour, and some IPAs a couple weeks back. All impressive. Resident Culture being second. Also, Salud putting out some pretty damn tasty stuff too. Heist is falling behind.

I have the order reversed, but I have Resident Culture and High Branch as 1-2 as well.

Then Wooden Robot #3.

Then not sure how far south you get, but Amor Artis has been stepping up their game a good bit recently.
