Ceramic Crock

Hi,
Does anyone have an opinion on using a 2 gal. Ceramic crock as a secondary for mead? I have the lid sealed with tape and an airlock installed.

Is it wide at the top, so you have a lot more headspace than in a jug? If it does, I wouldn't use it.
