Farolito seems to be more consistently great. I've had some less-than-perfect burritos at Cancun (still amazing, but not perfect), especially in the last five years, but when they're on, they make the best burrito I've ever had. You basically can't go wrong with either, really. I like La Taqueria as well, not as much since there's no rice, and Papalote is my favorite veggie spot.
These are all very good opinions.

If Vivified is from SoCal, he's not going to like Nor Cal burritos. I'd recommend sticking to tacos, the burritos up here always add too much filler (rice, beans, cheese, etc).

i am from socal and saddened by the lack of good California burritos :( ISO a CA burrito in the bay area close to SD quality

From the Central Valley, Fresno to be exact. We have pretty great tacos and burritos here so maybe I'll just grab some tacos instead of a rice-filled burrito ;)

It's funny, because I swear by So Cal burritos right up until the CA burritos. Those are terrible. Soggy fries lining each bite are not my idea of a good time. I'll stick with straight carne.

I've taken to ordering burritos up here as {meat}, regular burrito with no frijoles, no arroz but con guacamole. I get the strangest looks from the people taking my order. Tastes so much better though.

Being from SD, I tend to stay away from the Failure Pile that is the Bay Area burrito.

I agree with rrryanc , SoCal folks should just stick to the taco options in the Bay Area. Some places have pretty good carne asada nacho options too.

Tacos are superior to burritos no matter where in the world you are, though.

Except San Diego rolled tacos. What a waste of time.

I would recommend walking to Civic Center BART, taking it south to 24th St Mission station, then you're right in front of Taqueria Farolito, and get a super burrito, with al pastor, carne asada, carnitas, it doesn't matter. Trust me! It's less than ten minutes to BART and a four-minute train ride.

Edit: Pastor, missed a t.

Ask for extra rice and beans!

Outside of fish tacos, San Diego tacos are in general not that good. Would rather have a burrito all-day, every day. Fish tacos are a different story (one that Nor Cal, again, doesn't do as well).

What are the best places nearby to grab some grub to-go to Cellarmaker?

Save yourself the trip and walk up to Taqueria Cancun at Market and 6th. Cancun owns everyone else anyway.

I wasn't the biggest fan. Had an astringency like after taste. Not terrible, but not as rounded out as I'd prefer. Nose is great.

Evil Spread was actually pretty good right when its served. Once it starts to warm up though is when it gets bad and really boozy.
Thanks for the info. I was thinking about going out of my way to try it since I'm a big fan of all CnC and Blammo variants, but now I'll just hope it's still around next time I'm nearby.

So.

Greasy and excellent Asian fusion. Have some excellent wings and noodle dishes. About a two block walk
That place has the hinkiest notions about "regular hours" I've ever seen. I think the last 3 times I've tried to go there after a Cellarmaker stopover, they've been closed for some reason or other, despite being during their listed hours.

No rice is what makes La Taquieria the best IMO. I know you can ask for it at other places, but that doesn't always work out. My only issue with it is no Al Pastor. Also, their tacos are so good, it's almost dumb to get a burrito there.

Wicked Juicy IPA ~ Tuesday April 4th 2017
March 28, 2017/in Bottles
In California we say HELLA, but in Boston they say WICKED… We brewed Wicked Juicy as our 1st attempt at creating an IPA in the style of the great hop-forward brewers in the Northeast. We make this one with Simcoe, Citra & Galaxy hops along with a simple grist of pale malt & oats & fermented it warm with English ale yeast. It’s totally unfiltered dude!

Date: Tuesday, April 4th at 2pm. (Date and time subject to change)

Price: $9 (includes tax + crv)

Limit: 6

el burrito express.

also, the one thing i miss about living in las vegas - and literally the ONLY thing - is roberto's taco shop which is also a san diego staple.

What about Lotus of Siam? That place rocks. #thaifoodderail
i liked but didn't love lotus of siam - i'm probably the only person on earth who has had it and didn't rave about it...

Coming in hot, straight from SFO with a couple of empties begging for mo Nelson. Just hoping it's not a ******* swamp
