2011 Oak Aged Yeti. You win some you lose some. I remember enjoying a 5 year old Yeti a few years ago that was like drinking a brownie. This Yeti had a smokey/savory thing going on with a fair amount of bitterness and an old coffee taste.

2012 Supplication. Agressive acidity with a well developed funk. Cherries have faded, wine barrel character is still quite present. Not better than fresh but still enjoyable.

As always, cellaring beer proves to be an educational experience!

First review here: Surprising heat from the alcohol, still in a good way, a little caramel note to balance the alcohol. Was surprised there was no Oxidation present. Bottle was from a store that has been cellaring beer for a long time and releases stuff regularly, it was was the $10 and more.

2002 Double Mountain Double Trouble Anniversary beer.

Live review from their 10th Anniversary

A: Standard cola pour with a small head that dissidpated quickly.

S: Vanilla, plums and a touch of mineral oxidation.

T: Still pretty heavy with the barrel. Vanilla and oak mixed with dark fruit. A bit of oxidation creeps inas it warms.

M: closing in on a decade and still carbonated. Silky mouthfeel

O: They had a bunch of Anniversary beers on tap but their oldest held up the best of the ones I sampled.

it's delicious, caramel soaked in bourbon. cardboard is starting to creep in tho so if you got em drink em or trade em, this is not getting any better than this!

2013 Bourbon County Brand Barleywine

A: Aggressive pour yields a small khaki head that dissipates quickly. Dark cola brown with sticky legs. I had forgotten how dark this beer was.

S: Burnt caramel sugars mixing with vanilla and oak. Loads of dark fruit. Plum and sherry mixing with leather.

T: Taste follows suit with a big load of dark fruit and caramel. Oak comes forward more as it warms along with a slight touch of oxidation. It compliments though. Zero heat which is impressive for how big this beer is.

M: Silky and sticky mouthfeel. Each sip coats everything. Lingering notes of dark fruit malt and vanilla/oak.

O: No complaints. This beer has rounded out wonderfully and is drinking great. Throughly enjoyed every ounce of this one.

2012 Abyss. Despite being less and less interested in big imperial stouts (especially aging them) this was a great pour. Mellowed char/licorice with a fudgy dark chocolate and some vanilla and dark fruit. A cellar win.

2013, been drinking a lot of hf lately but nothing has blown me away like 2013 era hf. had to crack this if my memory served me right, it does.
back in 2013 i received one of these bad boys from GuisseppeFranco as an extra! i loved it so much i ended up trading for 6 more

this is glorious. super smooth. fudge, chocolate, tons of vanilla and oak. i had the base yesterday and it seemed pretty
average, so crazy how this transforms in the barrel. this is drinking great fellas! dont think it can get any better

2011 Goose Island - Lolita

Best by date is 5 years...oh well, that didn't seem to matter as this held up well. Poured with minimal head/carbonation which can be expected and what I did get faded quickly. Raspberry favor has held up extremely well and it's noticable right away when drinking though I didn't get much in the smell. Tartness has increased with time and I would guess that may continue, though I did not get any vinegar favlors from this which was great as some other reviews I saw online mentioned this. Overall though this was very plesent and wish I had another one. Going to be making my way through older bottles of the other Goose Island sisters so interested to see how this will compare to them.

You definitely dodged a bullet -- I had a 2013 Lolita at 3 years that had become pure nail polish remover.

2012 Goose Island - Madame Rose
Has also held up well. Cherry peels on the smell and straight cherry juicy goodness through the taste. Initial pours this was very tart not acid like but tart as the beer say for a bit the tartness subsided and I get more of a light creamy/frothyness. Slight harshness on the finish though doesn't take away from the beer overall.

My last 2012 FIS. Stored in my basement cellar, so some minor temp changes from season to season. A little sediment left in the bottle. Initial flavors are all licorice, and toasted malt. Finishes with a hint of bakers chocolate and coffee beans (like when you chew on them). Thick viscous mouthfeel, yet finishes dry on the palate. Dark enough to suck the light out of the room. So sad this is my last one.

This is the last of a bunch of kuhnhenn bottles I traded for back in 2014, I believe.

What a disappointment, as were all of the other bottles.

I don't know wtf happenned to these guys, but I'd never revisit them at this point.

This tastes like someone literally filled half of the bottle with water, and the other half with mead. It's so watered down I can actually TASTE WATER.

The shame is that what little flavor there is is pretty good. It's just half the amount of flavor it should be.

As I continue my way through a found box of older GI bottles I finally hit one that is past its prime. Good bit of oxidation here and a cardboard flavor. Though I get some fig, raisin, caramel, and molasses on the taste. While the taste is smooth the finish ends up being watery.

2010 Goose Island - Pere Jacques

As I continue my way through a found box of older GI bottles I finally hit one that is past its prime. Good bit of oxidation here and a cardboard flavor. Though I get some fig, raisin, caramel, and molasses on the taste. While the taste is smooth the finish ends up being watery.

Crushed a few cellar beers this week. No pictures but some thoughts. 2014 FIS > 2011 FIS by a huge amount. 3 years is really the peak on that beer for me, the roast starts to turn into an ashy oxidation after 5 years. 2015 Lawsons/Otter Creek Double or Nothing is great and has tons of maple. 2015 Otter Creek RIS is a great shelfie that can be aged. 2015 Allagash Evora and Golden Brett were holding up really well.

Not sure about the blackberry version. A local bar had a keg of Dominique for what seemed like a couple months. I think I drank at least half of it by myself.

My local WF had a bunch of 2010 Juliets like a year ago for some reason. I picked one up, but haven't cracked it yet. Curious as to how yours is.

2009 BCBS: I was expecting chocolate covered cardboard but this is drinking amazing. Super mellow and smooth, all that fudgey bourbon goodness is still there but much rounder.
2010 BCBS: Like 2009 but better.
2011 BCBS: Not much different from 2010.

2012 Goose Island - Juliet

Very tart probably a 7 out of 10 on the Mother Funker scale. Way more tart then I remember fresh. Blackberries are still coming thru very well. Getting some decent vinegar on the taste unfortunately, wouldn't give this one anymore time.
