This is from the voice of inexperience here but I think I'd sanitize a knife or spoon and just shove that wad of stuff back in to the fermenter. Then take your sanitized baster or thief and grab your beer to test. :tank:
 
pseudo relevant fact for the day. Gosebier from way back in the day in germany was put into a short fat bottle with an abnormally long neck where they didnt not seal the bottle in any way. the bacteria present in the beer formed a big plug mass that was air tight. ( Mosher, radical brewing, pg 146)
