Is there a good way to take beer from a half gallon growler and put it in a few bottles without loosing carbonation? I tried to do this last time, even chilling the bottles before filling them, as I think I read on here is necessary, but the beer is always flat by the time I get to the second bottle.

Your best bet might be to add a little priming sugar and yeast, let them recarbonate. I've been switching to liter flippies when I buy some to take home to avoid the problem. Granted four pints isn't huge, but I rarely want to drink four pints of the same ale in a row.

How do you cap off your growlers? I have a gallon growler i've been wanting to fill with some homebrew for a long time so I had a large amount in one container to bring to parties, etc.

I picked up these really nice one gallon beer boxes last time I was down in the Bay area. They have their own spigot and can hold pressure fairly well. Best part: one was full of RacerX,:mug: the other Hop Rod Rye! Empty now:(
