carbonating in whisky bottles?

Someone just gave me a case of high grade, heavy square whisky bottles. Do you think I could carb to 3 or 3.5 atmospheres in them? I have run out of swing tops, but I have some more cider ready to go. Sure would be nice to save the money on buying more bottles.

If those are the same one's I saved from Jack Daniels they might. Put them in aheavy cardboard box, just in case.

I they are Jim Beam, but I don't know for sure. But they are heavy. Maybe I should do just one, carb it on the heavy side, then watch to see what happens. What do you think?

I'd rather use something else. Liquor bottles were not designed to resist the pressure and I've heard many stories about that how they explode. My advice is not to play Russian roulette, one bottle may withstand it, another may not. If you really want to use them - maybe carbonate your beer below two volumes.

^^^ I know of a guy that was delivering soda pop in glass bottles... one blew and he was severely injured. Point being for whatever reason sometimes bottles that are made for the pressure fail. OP. Make friends with a grolsch drinker.!
