Can anyone tell me how much cane sugar to I need to prime 5 gallons of Amber Ale in a 5 Gallon Corny Keg? I will be using cane sugar for this. I will also purge out the headspace of the keg with co2 and put about 9 psi on top and disconnect the gas from the keg for storage.

Thanks,

AN

Can you not just carbonate using your CO2 supply?
What will you do with the yeast that drops to the bottom of the keg?
It will be right around the pickup tube and get dispensed with the beer.

It clears quite fast. Probably first 8 oz is too yeasty to drink, next pint is cloudy but not bad, after that is as clear as you would get force carbing.

Advantage of naturally carbonating like bottle conditioning include:
- Can do it when you don't have room in your kegerator
- Yeast scavanges oxygen introduced during kegging process
- Your bottle of CO2 lasts longer.

I find it especially good technique for beers I want to condition in the keg for few weeks before drinking.
