Can I use these bottles?

One gallon jugs are always useful. I use them to collect runoff, make starters, and for mini-batches. I doubt the caps are helpful, but maybe you'll think of something.

Cheers!

If you have multiple of them, brew a larger batch, and ferment it in different bottles, mixing up the fermentations- different yeasts, fruits, hops, the experiments are endless.

Or, if you are trying a new style or recipe small batches are awesome.

They'd be good for keeping some StarSan on hand or something like that. But, yeah, I'd be extremely leery of capping off any sort of fermentation with them.

You can bottle in them. That is the same cap that a growler has.

They would also be great for cider batches so you could try different seasonings.

I'm jealous where did you find them?

Don't bottle to carbonate in them. To much pressure will build up and blow it. U can put beer that is already carbed into it from a keg but if I was u I would just use to ferment small batches...

+1 to not carbonate in them. There's a very big difference between storing a carbonated liquid and carbonating that liquid. I hear over and over about people blowing these up trying to carbonate in them.

Thanks for all the responses. The bottles were unused supplies. I have eight of them right now. I am probably going to hang on to them and use them for transport once I start kegging.
