So i brewed up 5 gallons of a wheat beer that after fermentation I will put into a soda keg to carbonate with CO2. I have a few friends who want to try a blueberry or raspberry wheat beer...however I don't like fruit beer and not a huge fan of fruit extract as it tastes artificial to me.

The recipe calls for me to add 4oz of either fruit extract to the five gallons. So instead of ruining the whole batch with fruit extract can I instead fill up a growler (.5 gallons) which is 1/10 the size of the soda keg and put 0.4oz of blueberry or raspberry extract to get the same effect?

Has anyone done this before?

If so, anyone know a good way to measure 0.4oz?

Thanks!

With you on the fruit beer - good idea to do a separate dosing!

I use a small digital scale from Amazon, under $10 for all small measurements. In your case 2.5 tsps is close to .4 oz using my conversion widget.

+1 - Airlock or risk flying glass and make sure ferment is clearly finished before capping.
