I received this in an email and I was just curious if anyone had tried it and how accurate you thought it was.

I didn't try it because I need to set up a new junk email address. My impression of this, like any other website that recommends anything, is that the recommendations will go to the highest bidder not to the best fit. Anything that is free to the user has got to be paid for by someone..... those companies that will find a handyman service for you charge a buttload of money for those companies to be listed on their website.... The new yellow pages with no real value and just as expensive.

Computer programs are written by actual humans. "Computers" don't pick things or do any actual thinking or consideration beyond what been programmed.

So can other people pick your beer based on your answers to certain beer-related questions? Sure, why not? If you like hoppy beers I'll recommend an IPA.

:mug:

I guess I forgot to really make my point..... do you think it will just reccomend beers made by BMC Or other big players? or do you think they could really reccomend a beer by a small place like White Elm Brewing?

I just answered their silly questions.

It does recommend some beers from small independent breweries, but some of the recommendations are completely bogus. E.g. I said I don't like coffee flavor, but 2 of the 5 beers they suggested have coffee flavor (roasted malt).

The list gives links to buy the beer online; it's highly likely they're making money from affiliate marketing.

Mystery solved ;)

P.S. There are lots of disposable email services like mailinator.com

Yeah I know I've been using mail.com, just haven't gotten around to getting a new one. Summer time and I should be outside working on scraping paint.
I mean disposable as in there's absolutely no sign-up or account creation.
