Making a demijohn of rosé it was a bit hazy prior to 2nd Racking (8weeks after first racking) so added finings which crystal cleared it over a week and also filtered it. Thought I'd add a campden tablet (Youngs) whilst it matured and immediately it went cloudy. If the haze doesn't clear within a week or so should it be refiltered, fined again, left or something else. It tasted fine when it was clear before I added the campden tablet. Have I ruined it?

I have never had an issue with Camden hazing up my wine too badly that could not be fixed. But I am also one to not use finnings and wait a few weeks for a wine to clear.

Personally I think your wine should be fine if you wait it out another week or two.

Was this a kit wine?......and did you stabil prior to fining?

Not a wine kit but grapes rescued from a vine in my folks garden before the winter frost set in. Recipe from one of those 1970's wine & brew bibles gathering dust on the bookshelf. Stopped fermentation and stabilised at 1006 with a couple of campden tablets then racked and left for 8weeks. Hopefully to get an ABV c. 12%. Added finings which cleared the wine a treat but the added CT on 2nd racking brought haze back. Didn't have an issue with Sloe wine I was making at same time. Thanks for your reply. You could possibly try Bentonite? I have never had to use it in a wine but I have used it in meads before. It works nicely.

No use in adding bentonite now.......I would add finings again.......kiosell.......stir......chitosan....stir.....if you can get them......then I would put it in a cold spot.....not fridge could and see if it will fall out to the bottom in which case you can rack it off!

Didn't like the idea of adding bentonite as that was the clay added to drilling mud when I worked on oil rigs. Somehow just doesn't seem right to put mud in my wine. Think I can see signs of it clearing (or perhaps being hopeful) so may wait awhile and try filtration.

Waiting is usually best... And the safest method!
Interesting tidbit about oil drilling and clay. I have never used benedite clay in my wine. The thought of adding mud was a little odd. I do keep it on hand for poisen controle however. It absorbs toxins very well.
The few wines that refused to clear on their own I used the two part super klear on. It worked very well. Ground shell fish instead of mud, does not sound any better, but looks better!
